Patient Profile:
- Age: 40 years
- Gender: Male
Medical History:
- Recurrent multiple liver abscesses in the right lobe for the past 2 years.
Diagnostic Imaging:
- MRI of the liver revealed a biliary cystadenoma in segment V.
A 40-year-old gentleman presented with recurrent multiple liver abscesses in the right lobe of the liver for the last 2 years. MRI of the liver showed a biliary cystadenoma (Tumor of the bile duct) in seg V. Of the liver. the patient was referred for a Liver resection. He underwent resection of seg IVB V and Seg VI preserving pedicel to Seg VII and VIII (extended right hepatectomy). The postop course was uneventful. (no bile leak). the patient was discharged on day 9.
This case highlights the surgical management of a biliary cystadenoma in the liver in the setting of recurrent liver abscesses. The successful extended right hepatectomy resulted in a smooth postoperative course, demonstrating the importance of timely surgical intervention in such cases. Regular follow-up and monitoring are essential for the patient’s ongoing care and recovery.
